This JLMS drive was manufactured in August 2002 and is the model LTD-166S ( according to the sticker on the top of my drive ) . Previous models were LTD-163D , LTD-163 , and LTD-165H.LTD-166S and LTD-165H models are nearly identical . Models specifications can be read on JLMS website :
LTD-166S features list says it complies with the "DVD MULTI" logo requirements . This normally means it can read all DVD formats including DVD-RAM .Nero Info Tool reports LTD-166S can read DVD-R , DVD-RW , DVD+R , DVD+RW and DVD-RAM .
To dezone the LTD-166S and view DVD-VIDEO from all zones you can use a small software utility ( RPCDE.EXE ).You can find this utility on this website :

This drive is the shorter optical drive i have ever seen ( it is unbelievable ! ) . It is ideal for a Micro ATX case .
Firmware and Buffer size are excellent . The 512 Kb Firmware will be useful for future Firmware improvements . Unlike most DVD-ROM drives manufacturers JLMS releases regularly new Firmwares . The 512 Kb Reading Buffer is good especially for DVD reading performance .
Like Lite-On IT optical drives , JLMS LTD-166S is noisy .

All you need to install your drive and watch DVD VIDEO is in the box ( except a 40 or 80 pins cable , but in most cases you have already one , only people mounting their first PC should worry about this ) . The manual is short but clear and five N/B pictures will help you in installation process .
